Aunt Linda
Sweetie, your cousin says you work with robots now.
Are you the reason my bank replaced Brenda with a machine? 🤖

Sweetie, your cousin says you work with robots now.
Are you the reason my bank replaced Brenda with a machine? 🤖
😂 Not guilty. My company is called HowToFly. We help people work with AI, not get replaced by it.

Deal. Remember your job at the library?
Thirty-one years, dear. Best job in town.
What took up most of your time?
Typing up the new arrivals list. Every week. Then a monthly report for the council that nobody ever read.
And what did you love?
Helping people find the right book. The little boy who only read about volcanoes. The lady researching her grandfather.
That's it exactly. AI can do a lot of the dull bits: the lists, the reports, the searching. So people get more time for the lovely bits, and do them better.
That's what we do. We look at what a company wants to achieve, how the work gets done and what people are good at. Then we find, build and set up the right AI helpers for them.
So the computer wouldn't have taken my job?
No. It would have taken your Friday afternoon of typing. You'd still choose the volcano books. 🌋
And it would know which books?
It would help. You could ask it, “What do we have for a seven-year-old who loves volcanoes?” and it would search the whole catalogue in a second.
You'd still decide what to hand him. And you'd know he also likes dinosaurs.
I'd have been unstoppable.
That's the word we use: augmented. You, plus a very fast assistant.
Quicker. Better. And cheaper for the library, because nobody spends Friday afternoon typing lists.
One clever assistant per person. That's a lot of clever assistants, dear.
It is. And that's only half of it.
Did your library ever have a problem nobody could solve alone?
The leaky roof! Doris knew who to call, Frank knew the budget, and the cleaner knew exactly where to put the bucket.
How long did it take to get them all together?
Two winters.
That's the other half of what AI can do. It knows who's good at what, and gives each person the right job.
Doris calls the roofer, Frank signs off the budget, the cleaner brings the bucket. Same day. 🪣
A computer that hands out the jobs! Like the village WhatsApp group, but useful.
Much more useful. And nobody posts photos of their lunch.
And who's in charge? Not the computer, I hope.
People. Always. The AI suggests who does what. People check, decide and do.
Show me something fun, then. It's Christmas. 🍿
A spoonful of sugar. Now that's a business plan I understand.
Robots, unicorns and leaky roofs. Your Christmas cards must be something else. 🦄
But does it actually work? Outside of Christmas chats with your aunt?
It does. We've done this with teams at some very big companies.
Researchers who get months of reading done in days. Estate agents who make a virtual tour of a house in an afternoon. Whole teams sharing their ideas instead of keeping them in a drawer.
Here are a few stories, names changedSo let me get this straight.
First you look at what the company wants. 🧭
Then you give everyone a helper for the dull bits. 🤖
And you help hand out the big jobs, so everyone pulls together. 🤝
That's HowToFly. People, augmented. One by one, and all together.
Why didn't you just say that, sweetie? 😂
Because you ask better questions than most boardrooms. 💛
And if a company wants your help?
They bring one thing they want to achieve and one job that eats too much time. We show them where AI could help and what a first tool could look like.
One working session. No obligation.
Lovely. Now come and carve the turkey. No robots. 🦃
Augmented by gravy. On my way.
